Are Alternative Proteins Alive and Well?

I had coffee today with a friend and fellow co-founder of a Singapore start up after having not caught up in person for a while. We chatted about our businesses, our families, how we could assist one another, and the state of a few challenges we both faced. Its always great to listen and learn from other people, and hearing from a leader who has done well even through challenging times is even better. After a couple of hours, we shared some interesting articles and ideas, and went off to other meetings.

As I sat down today to choose something compelling, I was inspired to look for a "meaty" topic - especially as we move into the holiday season hoping to see some good news on across our world. And, to my surprise, I ran across this article from McKinsey that recapped a discussion with - my coffee date from earlier today.

Andre and Timo started Next Gen Foods here in Singapore in 2020 with a mission to make a difference. We have since worked together on several projects and he and Timo have shown great leadership as Next Gen Foods and Tindle grew at an extremely fast pace. The company, like many, are continuing adjust course through tough times, but their belief in the product and "doing good" is evident both here in this article as well as in our discussions today.

Take a few minutes to read the article, and, even better, try Tindle as they continue to grow their footprints here in Asia, in the US and in the UK and Europe. Its one of the best on the market, and the business continues to thrive because of a great culture, great leadership and an authentic purpose. And do tell me what you think at shaun@lightwheeladvisors - I would love to here your thoughts!

Alternative Proteins continue to gain traction as they become more mainstream and gain trial, acceptance and advocacy. The next few years will show their strength in the market place, and how the space itself continues to grow its TAM globally. And, as customers continue to look for ways to make a sustainable difference in their lives, the expected growth from around $60 bn USD in 2021 to almost $200 bn USD in 2028 may be conservative. In the mean time, check out the above article and go out and try Tindle and make up your own mind!
